Over the past five seasons, Spohn's men's and women's divers have taken 14 titles in the one- and three-meter diving events at the MAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Last season, Spohn assisted two divers to MAC Diver of the Year honors, with Christin Eberst's gold on the one-meter board and silver on the three-meter board at the conference meet helping her to MAC Co-Diver of the Year accolades, and Peter Donohue's sweep of both diving events at the MAC meet giving him the men's honor. Between both programs, Spohn coached three divers to NCAA Zone qualifying marks in 2004-05.
Miami alumnae Kelly Harper and Cassie Eakins are the only divers in Miami history to win MAC diving championships on both boards in back-to-back years. Spohn also led Harper and Eakins to MAC Diver of the Year honors and Miami Athlete of the Year accolades.
"Todd has been able to develop one of the premier Division I programs in the Midwest," coach Dave Jennings says. "He does a good job of working with each individual to make sure that they give their best effort every time they compete."
Spohn earned his bachelor's degree from Miami in 1986 and his master's degree in sport studies, also from Miami.
During his diving career, Spohn was a six-time MAC Championship finalist and three-time NCAA Zone Championship qualifier. Since graduation, Spohn has competed and medaled internationally at the Pan Pacific Masters Diving Championship as well as performed professional high diving.
Spohn and his wife, Monica, live in Oxford. They have three children: Hannah (16), Andy (15) and Molly (12).
