Recensio, Latin for “to look
back,” has recorded Miami history, students,
and events for 110 years. It’s purpose is
to record the history of the year and the
people who created that history, not only
so this information is preserved, but so that
the students can remember those years of their
early adulthood at Miami University. Through
the years, Recensio has embraced the changing
times to create a yearbook worthy of Miami
University students. Embracing the words of
our Alma Mater, "Our Miami, here's to
thee!"

"In reviving Recensio,
the board of editors has felt that a heavy
responsibility is resting upon them. ...
However, the resolved for the glory of
‘Old Miami’ to put forth their utmost
efforts in order to achieve success. As
a result of their efforts and the efforts
of many willing helpers, the present volume
goes forth on its mission of love for
their alma mater, for the students within
Miami’s walls and for the Alumni and friends
to whom Miami os a name that ever continues
dear in memory. May those who follow the
present editors, and for whom it shall
be the lot to issue Recensio in after
years, ever earnestly and faithfully strive
to do better than their predecessors,
and to make each succeeding volume more
worthy of ‘Old Miami’.”
