About Phi Kappa Phi

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Its chapters are on more than 300 campuses in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Each year, approximately 30,000 members are initiated.

Since its founding, Phi Kappa Phi has initiated more than 1 million members into its ranks; all of these members have received emblems and certificates of membership. However, Phi Kappa Phi is much more than an emblem and a line on a résumé. It is a global network comprised of the best and brightest from all academic disciplines - a community of scholars and professionals building an enduring legacy for future generations.

About MU Chapter 133 Invitation to Membership

Eligibility Requirements
Membership in the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is earned. Admission is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. The governing bylaws of the Society set extremely high standards for membership. Miami invites undergraduate students to membership in spring of their junior year (top 7.5 %) or senior year (top 10% by rank within their major division). The top 10% of Graduate students by division are also invited to membership in spring. In addition, we invited a percentage of faculty, staff and alumni. Chapter Sponsorship
Miami Undergraduate Research Information Fair

For the past several years, our Phi Kappa Phi chapter has co-sponsored the Undergraduate Research Information Fair and poster session and we have sponsored an award at the Graduate Student Conference.

I am pleased to report that we had a good turn out for this Undergraduate Research Information Fair held at Shriver Heritage Room on 08/31/2010. Last year's Chapter President, Celeste Davis, represented our society focus on student academic pursuits in our role as event co-sponsor.

The forty or so students who stopped by had a chance to to talk with staff about the various undergrad research opportunities and to talk with fourteen of our USS 2010 Summer Scholars undergraduate researchers who volunteered to either present a poster or chat with students about their research experience.
