Monastery Trip

Every year we make a trip to a nearby monastery for a weekend. It is an extremely relaxing and centering experience. We spend time with the monastics, as well as attend church services. The monasteries are very quiet and allow for effective retreat and meditation.

Service Trips

Once a month, our group plans a local service trip. In the past, OCF has done things like helped out at soup kitchens in downtown Cincinnati, served and stayed overnight with the homeless in Middletown, fundraised for Guatemalan orphans at the Phi Delt Gates, and various other things.

Guatemala / Mexico Trip (Real Break)

Summary: The Hogar Raphael Ayau Orphanage is located in the heart of Guatemala City, as a refuge for those children who would otherwise be on the street. The orphanage takes up an entire street block and is surrounded by 12-foot cement walls, separating the children from the world they once belonged to. The orphanage itself is safe and secure. Upon our arrival, one of the nuns will pick us up and accompany us to the orphanage, which is only a short ride away.

Our mission will be spent giving much needed personalized attention and care to the children. The children live in small groups and we will be given specific groups to work with. We will accompany these children through their day, helping them, caring for them, and having fun with these amazing young people. Some evenings, after the younger children are in bed, an evening soccer game with the older kids is planned! Each day we will also attend church, have an evening discussion led by the accompanying priest, and enjoy fellowship time with the team. Above all, we are going to serve the orphanage in whatever way we can. For one of the days, it may be possible to visit a monastery in the mountains.
