News STEEL BAND EXTRAVAGANZA! The Eastern Kentucky University Steel Band, directed by Jason Koontz, will be the group’s special guest for the on-campus concert this spring. This concert will be on March 31. Tickets can be obtained through the MU Box Office (513-529-3200). New CD on the Loose! The MU Steel Band recorded its third compact disc through Pan Ramajay Productions in January, 2006. The disc was officially released at the group’s spring on-campus concerts March 31 and April 1, 2006. Like the band’s previous two recordings through PR Productions, the music will be available for purchase through their website and through Amazon.com. The music can also be downloaded from the iTunes Music Store! The band is coming off a successful performance at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention on November 5, 2005 in Columbus, OH. Pan artists Tom Miller and Leam Teague appeared as guests with the ensemble. Some of the repertoire featured in the performance will find its way onto the CD, including two compositions from Miller: Allah We and Coqui. Other contributing composers include Phil Hawkins, Alan Lightner, Andy Narell, and director Chris Tanner.
