Spring Break Trips

Havasu Falls

 

2006-Out West

The OAC's first spring break trip took the OAC to go backpacking in the Arches National Park, the Grand Canyon and Havasu Falls.

2007-Kayaking in the Everglades

We traveled to the Florida Everglades National Park and had the chance to kayak to a small private island for two nights. During the trip we also had the chance to hike a section of the Florida Trail, snorkel in the Florida Keys, and spend time laying on the beach.

2008-Big Bend National Park

The OAC traveled out to camp in New Mexico and Texas. The first half of the week was spent exploring the the towering underground rooms of Carlsbad Caverns National Park and hiking to the highest peak of Guadeloupe Mountains National Park. The trip was concluded with a stay at Big Bend National Park where the OAC went hiking and canoed the Rio Grande.

2009-Canoeing in the Everglades and Camping in the Florida Keys

The OAC headed south to spend some time in the sun. The trip started with hiking and canoeing in the Everglades, staying at a secluded beach campsite. The OAC then headed to the keys for snorkeling and camping at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.

 

2008-2009

Canoeing on the Little Miami River

First trip of the year we went canoeing to meet new and old members of the OAC

White Water Rafting

Whitewater rafting at the Gauly River in West Virginia is one of the best places to raft in the world.

Backpacking in Dolly Sods Wilderness Area

Dolly Sods is a U.S. Wilderness area in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. The park offers great backpacking country for the fall break long weekend.

Backpacking Cumberland Gap

Cumberland Gap offers scenic cliffs and ridges for a weekend backpacking trip.

Service Project- Rock Climbing with Living Water

Living Water is a program for youth in Hamilton. Many of the high school age youth had never had the opportunity to do activities such as rock climbing, making this a fun and rewarding service project.

Caving at Marengo Caves

Marengo Cave is a National Landmark offering passages filled with cave formations, water, and mud.

Ski Trip

A short one day trip allowed for a day filled with skiing down ski slopes of southern Michigan

Mountain Biking at Houston Woods

Houston Woods State Park is right at our backdoor and offers water sports, hiking, and mountain biking.

Service Project at Local Conservation Area

We spent an afternoon removing invasive species and working in wetlands at the Edge of the Farm Conservation Area.

Skydiving!!!

Every year, the OAC ends the year by going skydiving during finals week so that we can get away from papers, reading, and studying
