The Associated Student Government
(ASG) is pleased that you are interested in starting
a new student organization. In
order to form a new student organization, you have
to go through two processes: Student Organization
Recognition and Student Organization Registration.
Student Org Recognition is run through
the ASG Vice President of Management. This is a screening
process that assures all organizations meet university
standards. All organizations must obtain the recommendation
of the VP of Management and be approved by the Student
Senate.
Why?
Only recognized student organizations can be registered.
Only registered student orgs can use the motor pool,
reserve classrooms, request ASG funding, have a mailbox
in the student activities wing, rent university facilities,
get tables in Shriver, rent the Hub, etc. The list
goes on.
How to I become recognized?
First you must fill out the
petition (available in Shriver Center Room 356) and write a constitution. Here are the guidlines
for writing a constitution. Once you have the petition
completed and the constitution written, then bring
those to the ASG Office in 374 Shriver.
Then What? That
paperwork will be go before the Student Senate for
approval to be recognized. Once you've been recognized,
you can then proceed to the second and final step
which is registration.
