Service
San Francisco
We will be taking a Spring Break Service Trip to San Francisco. We will leave on Friday, March 9. We will be working with Glide Memorial UMC, a uniquely diverse church in the heart of the Tenderloin District, one of the poorest and most challenging neighborhoods in the Bay Area. Glide is the largest social service provider in the area. We will also be working at the San Francsico Food Bank. San Francisco is rich in culture and diversity, and will be a unique experience for all participants. Stop by or call the center for more information
Spring Break Service Trips
In 2005, 12 students and 1 guides traveled to London, England to experience its rich diversity and urban ministry. We served at White Chapel Homeless Shelter, a shelter that has been in existence for over 150 years. They work to meet each person where they are, no matter where that is. They focus on grace, acceptance and love.
We also worked at a local urban church and the Island Neighborhood Project helping with painting and cleaning.
We also had the opportunity to visit many historical sites such as the Tower of London, St. Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Wesleys Chapel and much, much more. We stayed in the homes of the local church pastors. They helped us see the face of everyday London life.
We participate in fundraisers such as spaghetti dinners and pancake breakfast to help raise money for the trips.
Local service projects
Once per month, we sent a group of students to Shared Harvest, the main food bank for this region. Students pack food boxes, repackage food and cleaning products and help distribute food.
We also send groups to the housing co-op RESTOC in Cincinnati and help serve meals at Nash Trinity several times a semester on Sundays.
