Service

One of Kappa Kappa Psi's major roles at Miami University is service for the music department, especially during the marching band season. We have recently started moving in first-years into their residence hall rooms, so that they feel comfortable knowing some upper-class band members at practice the first day. Mike, Marybeth, and Loren help unload pop and juice for band members after halftime.Whether serving as squad or setion leaders, setting up and taking down chairs for indoor practice, or just providing water during those hot sultry days of band camp, Epsilon Xi tries hard to interact with the band in any way possible. Due to new white uniform trousers, Epsilon Xi funded vinyl seat coverings to use on the metal stadium benches, and sets them out before each game along with the Miami University chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.  Additionally, we distribute water after the pre-game performance, and other beverages after the band's half-time performance. At the beginning of the season, Epsilon Xi serves as a role model and friend, especially to those joining the Miami University Marching Band for the first time.

Kappa Kappa Psi also has done many Kendall and Ben offer juice to the thirsty bandbehind-the-scenes services that many people might not know about. Each prospective member class must complete a service project for the music department before going active. Past projects include: building a desk with shelves for the band office, a bulletin board outside the band room for important announcements, benches near the practice field for weary marching bandos, planters for the front lobby, signs for the pre-game concert, carts to move water coolers, and new music books for the Athletic Band. Even the Proctor's table, the CPA's social hub, was a past prospective member project.

We also take on many service projects as a whole, whether it's building percussion carts to move equipment, ushering for Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band concerts, the upkeep of Ft. Liles, collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charity, or Adopt-A-Highway cleanup just North of Oxford.
