I.
Eligibility
A. Only
students in good academic standing and free from any form of conduct
probation are eligible for participation in any Greek Week 2007 event.
They must also be in good standing with their respective chapters.
Students are eligible only through their fifth year of school. If a
member takes “Alumni” status within the chapter they are ineligible to
participate in Greek Week, even if they are full time students.
B. Each
participant must have accepted a bid prior to the end of the previous
year and must not be currently sitting on a given bid during Greek Week.
C. Any
person who has participated in a varsity sport on or 365 days before a
given event is ineligible to play in that sport. A person is considered
a varsity athlete if they are included on a team roster or identified by
coaches, advisors, or official team members. Varsity athletes found
participating in or attempting to participate in his or her sport in
Greek Week will result in the elimination of their chapter from that
particular event.
D. Club
athletes are eligible to participate in all Greek Week events.
E. In
the event of disqualification from Greek Week, the Logistics Committee
will randomly draw another chapter to participate in all paired events.
F. Members
of Greek Week Exec have no restrictions in regards to the number of
events in which they may participate; however, if they are participating
in an event, they hold no authority for the entirety of that event.
II. Identification
Proper
identification must be produced upon the request of the Logistics
Committee at any time before or during an event to ensure fair and
honest participation. The Logistics Committee reserves the right to
check IDs at their discretion, unannounced. If a person cannot produce
a proper ID, that person will be prohibited from participating. The
chapter is subsequently responsible for finding a legal alternate to
replace the participant. The Logistics Committee will have a copy of
each roster from every sorority and fraternity at each and every event
to ensure verification.
You must
check in 15 minutes before the
start of an except for Swimming and Crop Walk (30 minutes before).
All IDs must be present at check-in. Chapters who fail to check in
within the allotted time period will be disqualified from the event (at
rules committee discretion).
III. Events
Each chapter will
be responsible for the following items to receive the 15 bonus points*
given for hosting an individual chapter event: **
1.
Start your event on time (15 min. grace period is
allowed).
2.
Having enough chapter members to run the event.
3.
Making sure that those chapter members have a
working knowledge of the rules and regulations of your event(s).
4.
Host teams are prepared to field extra teams in the
event that a fraternity/sorority pairing does not participate.
5.
Cleaning up your designated area within one hour of
the completion of your event.
*NOTE: The 15 point
bonus will be left up to the discretion of the directors and rules
chairs.
**See attached “Greek
Week 2007 Event Hosting Sheet (pg. 11)” for reference.
Holding Roster
Positions:

otherwise stated.
Otherwise, once the event has started, the roster remains, and no
substitutions can be made. (See following exception B2).
2. Someone
coming from an event which overlaps the next event they are to
participate in may show up late if, and only if their ID has been
presented 15 minutes prior to the event.
C. Referees during
events have the power to warn, or disqualify from
the game or match, any player, substitute, or manager who commits any of
the following gross violations:

Fighting/Sportsmanship/Cheating
A. Fighting
will not be tolerated at any event. If a fight breaks out, the teams
involved will receive NO points for that particular event. Also, the
people involved in the fight will not be allowed to participate in any
other Greek Week 2007 event. Further action may be taken against the
chapters involved.
B. Each
chapter begins with 30 sportsmanship points. There will be a 10 point
deduction for the first infraction, and 10 more for the second. Events
which qualify as poor sportsmanship include (but are not limited to)
taunting, excessive derogatory remarks made against another chapter,
excessive profanity, etc.
C. If
a chapter is found to be cheating, then the Logistics Committee reserves
the right to penalize the accused chapter as they see fit. Penalizations
can include (but are not limited to) point deductions from the category
of “sportsmanship,” disqualification from that particular event, or
disqualification from Greek Week 2007 completely.
V. Rules for Weather
A.
In case of severe weather, most outdoor events will
be rescheduled for September 24th. Chapters unable to sponsor their
events because of severe weather (for this reason only) will still be
allotted the 15 points for their event. Chapters participating in the
event will not receive any points unless the event is canceled AFTER the
start of the event
B. Rainout
