About the Danforth Foundation

Established in 1927, the Danforth Foundation is a private, independent foundation. Its goal is to help revitalize the St. Louis region, making it one of the top metropolitan areas in America. To carry out its mission, the Foundation concentrates its efforts on economic development with special interest in the plant and life sciences, neighborhood redevelopment, and downtown St. Louis revitalization. Because the foundation emphasizes excellence, it also
supports unique projects which make outstanding contributions to the St. Louis area. In addition, special religious outreach activities and early childhood care and education projects are supported on occasion.

As of 1997, the Danforth Foundation exclusively makes grants in metropolitan St. Louis.
