| The
Forget Me Not was published 1823-1847 (with a final singular
issue produced for 1856). By 1847, British literary annuals had lost
much of their popular appeal; however, the American production of literary
annuals doubled the number of British publications during the period, 1846-1857.
By 1857, the literary annual genre had begun to lose public interest on
both continents. To illustrate the early and rapid rise in popularity of the annual, the title of each annual is listed under the year published. Beyond 1835, the number of annuals published each year is listed (instead of the titles). The more successful and popular titles are in bold typeface -- the Forget Me Not is, of course, included among these. Click on the Forget Me Not title to view its facsimiles and transcripts.
