Upcoming Medical School Visits

February 21, 2008

Have you ever been interested in what medical school admissions counselors are looking for in solid pre-medical candidate?  Do you want to visit an actual medical college and speak with medical students about their own experiences?  Well, here is your chance!  AMSA has set up tours at two of Ohio's Medical Schools.  The first visit will be to Wright State University School of Medicine on FRIDAY March 7th.  We will leave Miami at 2:30 and be back by 5:30 or 6.  The second visit will be to University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and is tentatively scheduled for FRIDAY April 11th, time TBA.  It is highly encouraged that you utilize these opportunities to have all your medical school questions answered, from first years curious about the process to juniors and seniors who are turning in applications.  Below are some basic info about the two schools:

UCCOM: The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM) is a premier institution ranking in the top third of medical schools in the United States.  UCCOM is home to 621 medical students, 41 MD/PhD students, 426 graduate students and 227 postdoctoral scholars.  The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, which includes a major teaching hospital, ranks second among the nations pediatric hospitals in research funding from the National Institutes of Health.

WSU Boonshoft School of Medicine: Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine is located in Dayton, Ohio, and has medical education programs leading to the M.D., M.D./Ph.D., M.D./M.B.A. or M.D./M.P.H. degree for about 400 medical students.  Wright State is affiliated with seven major teaching hospitals in the Greater Dayton area and has formal affiliation agreements with more than 20 other health care institutions in the Miami Valley.  Wright State's clinical faculty teach and provide medical care for almost half a million patient visits annually.  Our innovative educational programs have made the Boonshoft School of Medicine a national leader in generalist medicine, community service, and the diversity of our student body.
