Life as a New Member

New Member
A new member is a young woman who is preparing to become an initiated member of Alpha Gamma Delta.

Sister-Mother
A Sister-Mother (or Sis-Mom) is an initiated member who has chosen a new member to be her Sister-Daughter (or Sis-Dot). She will be with that new member throughout her new member period as a special guide, guardian and friend. She will help the new member grow in her understanding of the Fraternity and the Greek System.

New Member Meetings
Just as the initiated members attend weekly Chapter Meetings, new members attend weekly New Member Meetings. In these meetings, new members learn about the chapter and the Fraternity, plan new member activities and stay informed about upcoming chapter events.

New Member Activities
Throughout the new member period, events and activities are scheduled to allow new girls to get to know their new sisters better, such as movie nights in the suite, potluck/progressive dinners, afternoons at You're Fired, ice cream in the suite, and much more. Also, new members are encouraged to participate in new member events, such as Anchor Splash, Bump-It Thump-It and Pledge Puddle Pull.

14 Pearl Program
The Fourteen Pearl program is a personal development program designed to make it easier for the new members to become personally involved in many areas of their community, campus, and chapter, while continuing to attain high scholastic goals. By completing the program, the new members will also be working to fulfill part of the initiation requirements. The program focuses on individual growth as a new member, thereby preparing new members to become valued members.
